What to Expect:
It's important that we both feel as if we're a good fit for each other. I first gauge this based on your presenting concern (see above). Then, we collaboratively explore this in a phone consultation and a subsequent face-to-face intake. You can expect that I'll ask you throughout these appointments to share your reactions - whether you feel like I'm really understanding you and if you think my perspective matches what you're looking for.
You can also expect that I will encourage you to be proactive in our sessions, which starts by you identifying your own goals for therapy. Based on this - and how your goals evolve over time - I will help guide us in productive exploration and processing. I also find that therapy works best when we're both doing the work, which means that I often encourage my clients to come to session with some thoughts about what they want to focus on and/or what reflection they have done based on our previous work.
